ICAR-CIRCOT Mumbai Organizes 'Khet Bachao Abhiyan' in Pune to Boost Natural Farming and Soil Health
As part of the Government of India’s month-long Khet Bachao Abhiyan (June 1–30, 2026), a multidisciplinary team of scientists from ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai, visited Pune district from June 4–5 to promote sustainable agriculture. The team educated farmers and local stakeholders on the vital role of natural farming, balanced fertilizer use, and soil health preservation in enhancing agricultural productivity.
The sessions focused on practical sustainable methods, including the use of local bio-inputs, effective crop residue management, and organic nutrient recycling. To encourage large-scale adoption, the scientists also engaged with progressive farmers, agricultural startups, and Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs). This campaign represents a crucial step toward empowering farmers and conserving long-term soil fertility.
Dr. A.S.M. Raja, Dr. N. Vigneshwaran, Dr. Krishna Prasad, Mr. Rajesh P Kadam and Mr. Uday Kore from ICAR-CIRCOT organized this campaign.
