  • MP.106 : Refinement in heating and cottonseed conveying system of cottonseed dryer 

    PI of the Project and Designation: Dr. Varsha satankar, Senior Scientist

    Objectives: 

    • Design modification in hot air generator to improve the heating efficiency.
    • Design refinement of seed conveying system for trouble free operation.
    • Performance evaluation of the modified cottonseed dryer at Industrial Level.

  • MP.108 : Evaluation of effectiveness of air jet cleaner for trash control in ginning industry to qualify Kasturi cotton trash standards 
     

    PI of the Project and Designation: Dr. V. G. Arude, Principal Scientist

    Objectives:

    • To establish lint cleaning system comprising of air jet type and cylinder type lint cleaners.
    • To evaluate effectiveness of air jet type lint cleaner and optimize established lint cleaning system to qualify Kasturi cotton trash standards.

    Project period: 2025-2027

  • MP.109 : Development and standardization of Contamination Measurement Techniques in Cotton 

    PI of the Project and Designation: Dr. Shekh Mansuri, Scientist

    Objectives : 
    To develop an imaging system to detect and quantify visible contaminants in cotton.
    To design and standardize an image processing algorithm for identifying common contaminants.
    • To validate  the developed system accuracy against manual grading.

    Project period: 2025-2027

  • MP.110 : Development and Evaluation of seed cotton storage bag with antimicrobial finish 

    PI of the Project and Designation: Dr. A. K. Bharimalla, Principal Scientist

    Objectives : 
    Antimicrobial finishing of greige cotton fabric using nano zinc oxide.
    Preparation of ergonomically designed cotton bags to hold adequate amount of seed cotton.
    Evaluation and field validation of the developed bags.

  • MP.111 : Development of Quality Norms for Rotor spinning of indigenous cotton and its value addition 

    PI of the Project and Designation: Dr. N. Shanmugam, Principal Scientist 

    Objectives : 
    To develop quality norms for rotor spinning of indigenous cottons.
    To optimize blend ratio of virgin cotton and process waste for trouble free rotor spinning.
    To develop value added woven and knitted fabrics from rotor spun yarns.

  • QE.116 : Development Process protocol for ICAR-CIRCOT calibration cotton for standard reference material certification 

    PI of the Project and Designation: Dr. Kirti Jalgaonkar, Sr. Scientist

    Objectives : 
    To develop suitable process protocol for ICAR-CIRCOT Calibration Cotton for getting Standard Reference Material Certification.
    To produce ICAR-CIRCOT Calibration Cotton in all categories as par with Internationally available calibration cotton.
    To study the effect of environmental condition during storage and multiple usage of calibration cotton during actual testing, on quality of calibration cotton.

  • QE.117 : Development of Image based trash measuring device using artificial intelligence

    Objectives : 
    To study the features of images and develop an algorithm for feature extraction.
    To develop machine learning model for trash estimation.
    To integrate the model with the device and test its performance.

  • CH.104 : Effects of process parameters on cottonseed oil extraction.

    Objectives : 
    To study the effect of moisture content and machine settings on cottonseed oil yield.
    To analyse different physicochemical properties of cottonseed cake and oil.

  • CH.105 : Evaluation of Cotton based lignocellulosic biomass for production of furfural.

    PI of the Project and Designation: Dr. Manoj Kumar Puniya

    Objectives : 
    Optimization of pretreatment condition and evaluation of pentosans for production of furfural from cottonseed hulls.
    Optimizing the production of furfural from cottonseed hulls using one pot or multiple stage experiments by chemical methods.
    Standardization of quantification of furfural from cottonseed hulls.

  • CH.106 : Development of Microbial enzyme-mediated delinting process from cottonseeds

    To scale up the delinting process of cottonseeds.

  • TT.14 - Development of project profile, data bank and entrepreneurship in cotton processing.

    PI of the Project and Designation: Dr. D. M. Kadam, Principal Scientist

    Objectives : 
    To Develop Project Profile on post-harvest processing technologies of Cotton and its by-products.
    To develop a database of cotton, cotton seed and biomass processing machineries, manufactures and suppliers.
    To impart training, offer consultancy and conduct out-reach programs on CIRCOT technologies and promotion of Indian cotton for export market.
