Nanocellulose Based Kraft Paper for Packaging Applications
- Kraft paper was reinforced with Nanocellulose produced from refining process using cotton linters.
- Addition of nanocellulose, improved the mechanical properties of kraft paper such as tensile strength, bursting strength, fold endurance and tearing.
- The tensile strength increased 3.5 times by addition of 20% nanocellulose in the kraft pulp. For the same concentration, the tearing strength, bursting strength and folding endurance increased by 1.56, 1.2 and 6 times respectively.
- The increased mechanical strength of the Kraft paper enables the reusability and recyclability in Packaging application.
