Nanocomposite Films for Food Packaging
- Starch is a promising renewable source for making biodegradable films for use in packaging but are thermo labile, hydrophilic with poor mechanical properties.
- A Process was developed to produce starch based films with better gas and moisture barrier properties suitable for food packaging
- The starch based nanocomposite films have improved tensile strength and reduction in water vapour transmission rate with good sealability.
- Nanocomposites films are stable in ambient environment for more than three months
- Used to store fish products, oil after thermal sealing without leak or deformation.
