The five-day training programme on “Advances in Applications of Nanotechnology” was inaugurated on 10th November 2025 at the ICAR–Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (CIRCOT), Mumbai. A total of 14 participants, including 8 women, from various parts of India are attending the programme. The inaugural session commenced with a welcome address by Dr. N. Vigneshwaran, Course Director, who highlighted the state-of-the-art facilities and expertise available at the Institute and outlined the training schedule designed to provide participants with hands-on experience.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr. S. K. Shukla, Director of the Institute, who, in his inaugural address, emphasized the importance of sincerity, active involvement, and engagement for the successful completion of the training. He also briefly described the legacy and diverse research activities of the century-old Institute. Dr. N. Shanmugam and Dr. A. S. M. Raja, Heads of Divisions, also addressed the gathering.

The intensive training curriculum encompasses modules on nanomaterial synthesis and characterization, and their applications in areas such as textile finishing, nanofilters, nanocomposites, bio-nanocomposite films, integrated pest management, environmental management, wound dressing, nanofertilizers, e-textiles, and 3D printing, along with sessions on life cycle assessment (LCA) of nanomaterials and business incubation opportunities in nanotechnology.
