ICAR-CIRCOT Successfully Conducts Training Programme on Characterization of Cotton Linter Pulp

ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (CIRCOT), Mumbai, successfully organized a five-day hands-on training programme on "Characterization of Cotton Linter Pulp" from July 27–31, 2026. The specialized course was attended by three industry professionals, including one female candidate, seeking to advance their expertise in cotton linter processing and quality evaluation. Designed to empower the industrial stakeholders, the curriculum provided end-to-end exposure to cotton linter pulp characterization through intensive classroom lectures, demonstrations and hands-on practical sessions by subject-matter experts. 

Throughout the week, participants underwent practical training on key quality metrics, including chemical and mechanical purification, determination of viscosity using the Cuen method, degree of polymerization, alpha-cellulose content, ash and moisture analysis, and brightness evaluation. The programme also featured advanced analytical techniques such as Automated Image Analyzer and ICP-MS.

The training concluded with an interactive feedback and valedictory session, where participants praised the institute's state-of-the-art facilities and expert faculty, underscoring ICAR-CIRCOT’s continued role in empowering industrial professionals through specialized technical capacity building. 

During his valedictory address, Dr. S. K. Shukla, Director, congratulated the trainees for successfully completing the programme and requested them to serve as brand ambassadors for the Institute. The event was also attended by the training coordinators, Dr. N. Vigneshwaran and Dr. A. Arputharaj, along with other faculty members.
