ICAR-CIRCOT Organizes Training Programme on ‘Spectroscopic and Chromatographic Characterization of Materials and AI-Based Data Analysis’

ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (CIRCOT), Mumbai, successfully organized a three-day training programme on “Spectroscopic and Chromatographic Characterization of Materials and Applications of AI Tools for Data Analysis” from August 17 to 19, 2026. Seven participants, including three women, from various academic and research organizations attended the training.

The programme covered a broad range of advanced spectroscopic, chromatographic, and elemental analysis techniques through a combination of lectures, instrument demonstrations, and application-oriented sessions. Delivered by subject-matter experts from ICAR-CIRCOT, the topics included UV-Visible Spectroscopy, FTIR, Raman Spectroscopy, Gas Chromatography (GC), High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Spectrofluorimetry, Optical Emission Spectroscopy, Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) and Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS). The training provided participants with an integrated understanding of the principles, instrumentation, and practical applications of major analytical techniques, while also highlighting emerging digital and AI-based approaches for the efficient interpretation of scientific data. 

The programme concluded with a valedictory session on August 19, 2026, marking the successful completion of the three-day technical training event. During the valedictory function, Dr. S. K. Shukla, Director of the Institute, congratulated the participants on successfully completing the training programme. He encouraged them to use the key analytical and AI tools covered during the sessions in their respective fields. Furthermore, he urged the attendees to actively pursue collaborative research initiatives in their future endeavours.
