ICAR-CIRCOT Organizes Hands on Training Programme on Basic Molecular Biology and Genome Editing Techniques
ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (ICAR-CIRCOT), Mumbai, organized a three-day Training Programme on Basic Molecular Biology and Genome Editing Techniques during September 28–30, 2026. This is the second batch of the training programme organized by Genome Editing and Biotransformation Centenary Laboratory of ICAR-CIRCOT. A total of 11 participants (6 male and 5 female) representing various educational and research institutes across the country attended the programme.
The training provided theoretical insights and practical exposure to fundamental molecular biology techniques such as cDNA synthesis, real-time PCR, and CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing. Participants were familiarized with the workflow of genome editing experiments through comprehensive lectures and hands-on sessions designed to strengthen their technical competence and research capabilities.
In the concluding session, Dr. S. K. Shukla, Director, ICAR-CIRCOT, addressed the participants and highlighted the significance of such skill development programmes. He stressed the growing importance of genome editing in present-day research and motivated the trainees to develop expertise in these emerging areas.

Dr. N. Vigneshwaran, Course Director and Dr. Manoj Kumar, Course coordinator of the training programme, extended their best wishes to the participants and expressed willingness to provide guidance for collaborative research work in the future.
