ICAR-CIRCOT Organized Training on Advances in Applications of Nanotechnology.

ICAR-Central Institute of Research on Cotton Technology, Mumbai organized a five-day training programme on “Advances in Applications of Nanotechnology” during December 5-9, 2022.

During the inaugural session, Dr. S. K. Shukla, Director, ICAR-CIRCOT welcomed the trainees and briefed about the mandated activities of the Institute and the efforts taken by the Institute to enhance the production and productivity in agriculture with the Nanotechnology based interventions. Dr. Shukla also mentioned about the future possibilities in continuing the relationship with the trainees by collaborative research work, contract research and various other modes based on mutual understanding.

This self-financed training programme was attended by twenty two participants, out of which twelve were female participants. Five participants were from industry while seventeen were from the academia. In addition to Maharashtra, trainees from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh attended this programme.

Apart from the basics on synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials, their applications in cotton apparels, e-textiles, wound dressing, biocomposites, environment management, integrated pest management and plant fertilizer were also covered in this programme. Special emphasis was given on nanotoxicololy and life cycle analysis of nanomaterials.

Dr. Sujata Saxena, Principal Scientist & Head, CBPD interacted with the trainees & distributed the certificates during the valedictory function. Dr. N. Vigneshwaran, Principal Scientist and Training Coordinator, while briefing about this training programme, mentioned that major portion of this training was devoted to hands-on practical so that the trainees can gain confidence in handling nanomaterials.
