The 76th Independence Day was celebrated with full vigor and pride across the nation and to mark the 75 years of independence. ICAR-CIRCOT staff members too actively participated in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign from 13th to 15th August 2022 by hashtaging #harghartiranga on their social media platform as well as uploading of their selfies with Tiranga on http://harghartianga.com/ website of GoI. The office website is too updated with Har Ghar Tiranga banner.

ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai celebrated the 76th Independence Day on 15th August’2022 with full enthusiasm. Honorable Director Dr. Sujata Saxena hoisted the National Flag and accepted the salute and guard of honour. In her speech, she greeted everyone for entering in to the auspicious era of Amrita kaal of Indian democracy and invoked everyone to look back and reflect on what we have achieved in the last seventy-five years and where we want to reach in next twenty-five years when the country will celebrate centenary of its independence.

She applauded the Institute technologies that benefited Cotton producers and processors in the last 97 Years of its establishment and with centenary year of the Institute ie. 2024 nearing, she told that it is time for everyone to and gear up and take up the challenges faced by cotton farmers and cotton industry through focused R&D projects and develop the technologies which will help in removing drudgery from life of cotton farmers and workers. She stressed up on the need to diversify the research work and contribute in developing mechanical Cotton picker, as manual cotton picking is practiced today and contributes to the cotton cultivation cost for the farmers. It will be a necessity for the High Density Cropping System being proposed to increase the cotton crop productivity in our country. She also emphasized that there should be more endeavours in value addition to cotton so that India could export branded cotton apparel rather than raw Cotton which in turn will enhance the income of farmers as well as cotton industry and create employment. A short cultural program was also arranged. Around 50 Staff members along with their children participated in the celebration.
