124th Annual Institute Research Council (IRC) Meeting held during April 02-03, 2024

The 124th Annual IRC meeting of ICAR-CICOT, Mumbai was held during April 02-03, 2024 in the Conference room of ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai in Hybrid mode. Dr. S.K. Shukla, Director, ICAR-CIRCOT, Chaired the meeting in the presence of Dr. S. Sreenivasan and Dr. A.J. Shaikh, Former Directors of ICAR-CIRCOT, who were invited as the experts for the IRC meeting.

Dr. Sundaramoorthy C, In-Charge PME Cell & Member Secretary IRC, welcomed the Chairman, experts and all the members to the 124th Annual IRC meeting. Dr. S.K. Shukla, Chairman IRC, in his opening remarks appraised the members on the achievement made by the institute during the financial years in respect of attaining the revenue generation targets, success of the CIRCOT R-ABI to garner Grant in aid support for the start-ups.

The research projects of the institute are carried out under 5 broad core-areas and the progress of the research work under different core areas were presented by the respective Principal Investigators. During the two-day deliberation, 15 institute funded projects, 6 inter-institutional projects, 5 projects funded under CRP on Natural Fibres and 9 externally funded projects were discussed. Ten new project proposals were also presented before the Council for approval. The IRC, with the guidance from the experts, reviewed the progress of each project and suggested future course of action.

In the concluding remarks the Chairman, IRC emphasised that the institute should focus on attracting the international CSR fund as there is increasing presence of multinationals in the supply chain activities. He also emphasised that the scientist should attract more externally funded projects and explore new avenues for technology transfer by working in close association with the stakeholders.

All the HoD’s, Scientist and Technical Officers (ACTO and Above) attended the meeting.
