Visit of delegates from UNIQLO Production (India), a Japanese retailing firm to Ginning Training Centre, ICAR-CIRCOT, Nagpur.

Delegates from the UNIQLO Production (India), a fast retailing Management Consulting Private Limited (Japanese retailing company); Mr. Jyothi Kandaswamy, Director along with Ms. Kirti Anil (Production Department), visited Ginning Training Centre of ICAR-CIRCOT, Nagpur on February 14, 2023. They were welcomed by the Dr. K. Pandiyan, Officer In-Charge, GTC. Dr. Pandian briefed them about various activities undertaken by GTC for various stake holders including farmers. They were demonstrated the facilities like Ginning plant, fibre testing laboratory of GTC, Nagpur.

During the interaction, Mr. Jyothi Kandaswamy, discussed about the issues regarding low productivity and high level of contaminants in the cotton sector in India. Dr. Pandiyan explained about the importance of clean cotton picking and appropriate practices for handling, transportation and storage of harvested cotton to overcome those issues. Mr. Jyothi Kandaswamy informed that the industry is planning to establish a complete model to increase the cotton productivity and reduce the contamination in cotton. Dr. S. Kautkar, Dr. Varsha Satankar, D.U. Patil, CTO, and U.D. Devikar were present during the interaction. Mr. Jyothi Kandaswamy and Ms. Kirti Anil thanked the Officer In-charge, for sharing the valuable information and expressed willingness to have consultancies in the forthcoming activities in this regard.
