Smt. K. Anitha, Principal Secretary to Govt. of Andhra Pradesh visits Ginning Training Centre, ICAR-CIRCOT, Nagpur.

Smt. K. Anitha, Principal Secretary to Govt. of Andhra Pradesh accompanied by Smt. S. Tanuja Rani, General Manager, APCO and Sh. Jayesh Mahajan, Nodal Officer, SMART Cotton Project, visited Ginning Training Centre, ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (CIRCOT), Nagpur on January 18, 2023. They were welcomed by the Officer In-Charge by offering a bouquet of flowers.

Principal Secretary and team members have interacted with Dr. S.K. Shukla, Director, ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai through online mode. During the interaction, secretary raised issues regarding low cotton production in the state and high level of contaminants in the seed cotton. In addressing the issues raised by the secretary, Dr. Shukla made a brief presentation and explained in detail about the appropriate harvesting and storage practices to overcome those issues. Secretary thanked the Director, for his valuable inputs and suggestions in improving cotton yield and quality, and requested for conduction of training programme for the lead resource persons and farmers of Andhra Pradesh to sensitize them on cotton quality. After the meeting, secretary and team members have witnessed the demonstration plants such as Ginning Plant, Particle Board Plant and Fibre Testing Laboratory at GTC, Nagpur.
