Sixth Lecture of “ICAR-CIRCOT Centenary Lecture Series” on 28th August, 2024

ICAR-CIRCOT is organizing Centenary Lecture Series in commemoration of its Centenary Year Celebration. The 6th Lecture in this series was delivered by Dr. Y.G. Prasad, Director, ICAR-CICR, Nagpur on the topic “Key Takeaways from Australian Cotton Industry”. The lecture was organized in hybrid mode on 28th August, 2024 at 2.00 pm.

Dr. S.K. Shukla, Director of the institute welcomed the speaker, and the audience for the lecture and briefed about the various centenary activities of the institute.

Dr. Y.G. Prasad, made a lucid presentation on the Cotton sector in Australia and then  provided key take aways that would improve the cotton sector in India. He highlighted on how the synergy of production technology and the appropriate management, has enabled Australia to achieve highest cotton productivity in the World. He also elucidated the success of the Australian ‘mybmp’ programme that produces the world class contaminant free cotton, with good compliance from the farmers. He admitted that though growing conditions prevalent in both the countries are different, but emphasized that the cross learning will definitely bring in improvement in the India’s cotton scenario, especially in producing contaminant free world class cotton in India too.

The Lecture had a diverse audience comprising Scientist & Technical Officers of the Institute, the researchers in the domain of cotton, academicians.
