A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (ICAR-CIRCOT), Mumbai with Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth (MPKV), Rahuri for carrying out Collaborative Research on Efficacy Evaluation of ICAR-CIRCOT Nano-Sulphur as fertilizer formulation for different field crops in presence of Dr. P. G. Patil, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, MPKV, Rahuri and Dr. (Smt.) Sujata Saxena, Director (Acting), ICAR-CIRCOT on 31st March 2022.
Dr. P. G. Patil, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, MPKV, Rahuri appreciated the efforts made by the institute in the field of nanotechnology and stressed upon the importance of efficient use of fertilizers for sustainable agriculture. Further, he also informed that the university is conducting field trial of different nanomaterials.
Dr. (Smt.) Sujata Saxena in her opening remarks emphasized on the importance and relevance of different nanotechnology research & development activities carried out at the institute. She informed that this MoU is pertaining to nanosulphur developed at ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai which will be evaluated at field level in MPKV, Rahuri for different field crops.
Dr. B. D. Bhakare, Head, Department of Soil Science and Agriculture Chemistry welcomed all the delegates. Dr. A. G. Durgude, Soil Scientist from MPKV, Rahuri explained different field trials being conducted at MPKV, Rahuri.
Dr. A. K. Bharimalla, Senior Scientist, CIRCOT briefed about the development of nanosulphur at ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai which is now being tested for fertilizer applications.
This collaboration will provide new insights into the development of fertilizers in nano dimensions and help in optimal use of sulphur in different oilseed and other field crops.
The meeting concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. M. K. Mahawar, Scientist, CIRCOT.
