ICAR-Central Institute of Research on Cotton Technology, Mumbai organized a five-day training programme on “Advances in Applications of Nanotechnology” during Oct 30 to Nov 03, 2023.
During the valedictory function, Dr. S. K. Shukla, Director, ICAR-CIRCOT appreciated the trainees for their dedication and active participation in the training programme. He informed the trainees to carry out the research in a collaborative mode for faster translation of the nanotechnology-based ideas into products / process to have a nationwide impact. He also emphasized the requirement for development of novel nanotechnology-based strategies to overcome the problems being faced by the nation due to excess usage of land and water.
During the interaction session, the trainees expressed their interest to collaborate with the Institute for furthering their nanotechnology-based ideas. Dr. N. Vigneshwaran, Principal Scientist and Training Coordinator, welcomed their views and encouraged them to come up with novel project ideas to work in collaborative mode for the benefit of agriculture and allied sectors.
This self-financed training programme was attended by eighteen participants, out of which twelve were female participants. Five participants were from industry & startups while thirteen were from academia.
Apart from the basics on synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials, their applications in cotton textiles, e-textiles, wound dressing, biocomposites, food industry, packaging, environment management, integrated pest management and plant fertilizers were also covered in this programme. Special emphasis was given on nanotoxicology and life cycle assessment of nanomaterials.
