ICAR-CIRCOT Organized Nanotechnology Training during Nov 4-8, 2024

On the occasion of Centenary Year celebration (2023-24), ICAR-Central Institute of Research on Cotton Technology, Mumbai organized a five-day training programme on “Advances in Applications of Nanotechnology” during Nov 4-8, 2024.

At the valedictory function, Dr. S. K. Shukla, Director of ICAR-CIRCOT, commended the trainees for their dedication and active participation throughout the programme. He encouraged them to pursue collaborative research for quicker translation of nanotechnology-based concepts into impactful products and processes for nationwide benefits. He also emphasized that the Institute’s state-of-the-art nanotechnology facilities are accessible to all stakeholders for enhanced utilization and application across diverse fields.

During the interactive session, the trainees expressed interest in collaborating with the Institute to further their nanotechnology research. Dr. N. Vigneshwaran, Principal Scientist and Training Coordinator, embraced their enthusiasm and encouraged the trainees to put forward creative project ideas for collaborative efforts that could positively impact textiles, biocomposites, sensors, agriculture and allied sectors.

This self-financed training programme attracted fourteen participants, including three women. In addition to covering the fundamentals of nanomaterial synthesis and characterization, the programme addressed applications in cotton textiles, e-textiles, wound care, biocomposites, food industry, environmental management, integrated pest management, and plant fertilizers. Special emphasis was given to latest developments in the fields of nanotoxicology and the life cycle assessment of nanomaterials. The trainees were provided with nanotechnology guidelines developed by DST and DBT to promote responsible usage.
