Dr. Praveen Gedam, Honorable Agricultural Commissioner, Govt. of Maharashtra along with field officers of the Department of Agriculture, Government of Maharashtra visited Ginning Training Centre, ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (CIRCOT), Nagpur on May 22, 2024. Dr. K. Pandiyan, Senior Scientist & Officer In-Charge, GTC welcomed the guests and made a brief presentation about various activities undertaken at GTC including testing and training services. Further, Dr. Pandiyan insisted upon the importance of awareness among the farmers regarding post-harvest management practices for clean cotton production to fetch competitive price in the market. Besides, he also briefed about branding of Indian Cotton as “Kasturi Cotton Bharat” and stressed upon seed cotton marketing based on ginning percentage (GP) so that farmers can fetch additional price for their produce.
Dr. Gedam appreciated the efforts taken by the center and expressed his wishes for further accomplishments. After the interaction, Dr. Gedam and his team members have witnessed the demonstration plants housed at GTC such as Double Roller Ginning Plant, Rotobar Gin Machine, Saw Gin machine, Particle Board Plant and Fibre Testing Laboratory.
