Dr. K. Narsaiah, Assistant Director General (Process Engineering), ICAR, New Delhi visits Ginning Training Centre, ICAR-CIRCOT, Nagpur

Dr. K. Narsaiah, Assistant Director General (Process Engineering), ICAR, New Delhi visited Ginning Training Centre (GTC) of ICAR-CIRCOT, Nagpur on April 21 to 23, 2024. Dr. Narsaiah was accompanied by Dr. S. K. Shukla, Director, ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai and Dr. N. Shanmugam, Head, Mechanical Processing Division, ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai.

Dr. K. Pandiyan, Senior Scientist & Officer In-Charge welcomed the Guest by offering flower of bouquets. Dr. Shukla explained about various facilities of GTC and demonstrated the Ginning and Fibre Testing Facilities to the guest. Dr. Narsaiah discussed in detail about various ginning technologies, their applications in cotton and processing of cotton seed and cotton stalks.

Dr. Pandiyan made brief presentation about various activities undertaken at GTC, Nagpur and its accomplishments pertaining to research, training, and testing services. Dr. Narsaiah interacted with all GTC staff and congratulated for their achievements. Further he extended his warm wishes for further success in this endeavour and bring more laurels to the institute. He also mentioned for submission of proposal to ICAR for upgradation of GTC to a Regional Station/Centre.

During his visit, a stakeholder’s meet was organised at GTC, Nagpur on April 22, 2024. About 25 stakeholders from various industries like ginning industry, spinning industry, pelleting & briquetting industry, and farmers have participated and discussed about future requirements from ICAR-CIRCOT for industries and farmers. During the meet, a total of 6 Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) were signed between ICAR-CIRCOT and Stakeholders viz. M/s Bajaj Steel Industries, Nagpur, Precision Tooling Engineers, Nagpur and M/s Vidarbha Sales, MIDC, Nagpur

During the visit, Dr. K. Narsaiah, ADG (PE) along with Dr. Shukla, Dr. N. Shanmugam, Dr. Pandiyan and other staff of GTC visited various cotton industries, M/s. ShreeKrishna Cotton Company, Saoner, M/s. P.N. Gawande Ginning and Pressing Industry & Spinning Industry, Bazargaon, and M/s. GIMA Biotech, a Scientific Cotton Seed Processing unit, Hinganghat.

Further, the team visited Manufactures of Ginning machineries, lab model gins and pelleting machiners viz. M/s Bajaj Steel Industries, Nagpur, Precision Tooling Engineers, Nagpur and M/s Vidarbha Sales, MIDC, Nagpur, respectively.
