Compact and Energy Efficient Cottonseed Dryer

Description  : 

The compact and energy efficient cottonseed dryer has been developed for online drying of cottonseed suitable for integrated ginning and cottonseed oil mills. The main aim was to process the cottonseed to achieve optimum moisture content for improved oil recovery in oil mill. It is based on the principle of direct heating. It is designed using innovative collapsible MS belts that allow heating of cotton seed twice (one on top and another on bottom side) on each conveyor leading to development of energy efficient compact drying system. 

Salient Features: 

• Direct heating type ‘Cottonseed Dryer’
• Online drying of cottonseeds in cotton  ginneries/ oil mills 
• Capacity: 5-7 TPH.
• Heat capacity: 9-12 lakh kcal/kg.
• Dryer is capable to bring down the moisture content from 40% to 9-10% i.e., optimum moisture required for oil expelling.
• Energy efficient compact drying system

Status of commercialisation : 

Technology is licensed to M/s. Bajaj Steel Industries Ltd., Nagpur for commercial scale production and marketing. Three units have been installed in ginning industries.
