ICAR–Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (ICAR-CIRCOT), Mumbai, conducted a four-day training programme on “Pulp and Paper Technology” during November 24–27, 2025. The programme covered a wide range of topics, including basics and latest developments in pulping & papermaking. Special highlights included agro-biomass pulping, eco-friendly pulping & bleaching, disposable crockery making, nanotechnological intervention for quality improvement and industrial visits. A total of 11 participants, including 8 women, from different parts of India took part in this programme.

Shri Ram Nath Thakur, Hon’ble Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India, reviewed the institute’s research progress on 27th November 2025. During his visit, he interacted with the participants and encouraged them to put in sincere efforts during the training and in subsequent follow-up activities to foster entrepreneurship development.
In the valedictory session, Dr. S. K. Shukla, Director of the Institute, highlighted the potential of pulp and paper technology in promoting entrepreneurship. He urged the participants to utilize the knowledge and skills gained during the programme to develop sustainable business ventures, value-added products, and innovative solutions for the industry. Dr. N. Vigneshwaran, Head of Division, CBPD, emphasized the hands-on training imparted throughout the programme and expressed interest in pursuing collaborative R&D initiatives.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Jyoti Dhakane-Lad, Scientist. Dr. N. Shanmugam and Dr. A. S. M. Raja, Heads of Divisions, along with other faculty members were also present during the valedictory session.
