Training Programme on Nanotechnology Organized at ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai

ICAR–Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (ICAR-CIRCOT), Mumbai, conducted a five-day training programme on “Advances in Applications of Nanotechnology” from November 10–14, 2025. The programme covered a wide range of topics, including nanomaterial synthesis and characterization, and their applications in textile finishing, nanofilters, nanocomposites, bio-nanocomposite films, integrated pest management, environmental management, wound dressing materials, nanofertilizers, e-textiles, and 3D printing. It also featured sessions on life cycle assessment (LCA) of nanomaterials and business incubation opportunities in the nanotechnology sector.

A total of 14 participants, including 8 women, from different parts of India took part in this programme. Three participants were from NEH regions.

In the valedictory session, Dr. S. K. Shukla, Director of the Institute, highlighted the role of nanotechnology in shaping future technologies and its immense potential in areas such as agriculture and animal husbandry. Dr. N. Vigneshwaran, Head of Division and Course Director, emphasized the hands-on training provided during the programme and expressed interest in pursuing collaborative research to advance nanotechnology-based innovations. Dr. N. Shanmugam and Dr. A. S. M. Raja, Heads of Divisions, also addressed the participants during the session.
