ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai organized a specialized training programme on “Nano-Finishing of Textile Fabrics with Particular Emphasis on Wool” for four trainees from FVSc & AH, SKUAST Kashmir, during October 14 to 23, 2024. The programme provided comprehensive insights into the synthesis and characterization of a wide range of nanomaterials, focusing on their applications in woolen textiles, bio-nanocomposites, and wound dressing materials. It also covered advanced topics such as electrospinning for nanofiber production, environmental management through nanotechnology, E-textiles, and Nanotoxicology. Additionally, trainees were introduced to Life Cycle Assessment techniques for nanomaterials and potential business incubation opportunities in the field of nanotechnology.
As part of the programme, the trainees visited state-of-the-art facilities at the Wool Research Association in Thane and the Bombay Textile Research Association in Mumbai. During the Valedictory function, Dr. S. K. Shukla, Director of ICAR-CIRCOT, interacted with the trainees and expressed a willingness to collaborate with SKUAST – Kashmir on research and development initiatives in the field of nanotechnology.
