Report on activities done under “Swachh Bharat Mission” on 24.12.2020
Under the “Swachh Bharat Mission”, a Swachhta Awareness campaign with emphasis on cleanliness and disposal of waste material at farm was undertaken at village Shahpur Begu, district Sirsa, Haryana on 24.12.2020. Keeping in mind the objectives of the mission, a “Swachhta Shapath” was administered to the farmers, farm women, village youths and children at 9.30 am. They resolved to strive for cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene in and around their houses and vicinity. Dr. Hamid Hasan, Officer In-charge, sensitized them about various factors responsible for creating garbage and unhygienic conditions in and around their houses. He elaborated upon the need to adopt a system of periodical cleanings, maintenance and initiation of preventive measures for containing of diseases. He also stressed upon positive thinking, good health and personal hygiene and how these factors may contribute to improve their financial condition by reducing expenditure on treatment of diseases at one hand and by converting garbage and agricultural waste in to compost for using in agriculture on the other hand. They were educated to understand difference between biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste and advised to collect and segregate garbage and waste and dispose off accordingly.
On this occasion, Shri Rajaram Karadwal, Secretary, Kisan Club, Sirsa also participated in the campaign. He elaborated various aspects of farm life and detailed them the importance of cleanliness, personal hygiene and maintenance of hygienic conditions in farm yards, cow sheds and houses. He also elaborated that how unhygienic conditions in and around farmyards cost them so dearly in terms of loss of animal and human health. Under his leadership, cleanliness drive was initiated in animal sheds, agricultural implements sheds, bylanes and houses in the locality. The garbage and other waste material littered around were collected and disposed-off in an eco-friendly way. A short rally was also organised to create swachhta awareness among passerby and onlookers in the vicinity.
All the farmers, farm women, youths and children participated in the campaign with a high sense of enthusiasm and devotion and thanked the institute for enlighten them on cleanliness.
